Lynn Gruber is the new Executive Director of the Dakota County Historical Society. The mission of the Historical Society is to “Collect, Preserve, Promote, and Present” the history of dakota County. Lynn and the Society believe that “History Matters”, since history connects us, teaches us what was right in the past, and what was not, so we can take these lessons forward. The Society has a collection of over 30,000 items of historical value. They operate historical sites, and their offices are in the Lawshe Memorial Museum, 130 3rd Avenue North, South St. Paul, MN 55075 phone: 651-552-7548. Their website is http://dakotahistory.org.
During the show, Alan Miller gifted his vast collection of over 1500 interviews on tape and DVD to the Society. This represents a detailed and rich repository of historical interviews, stories and telling of events.
Lynn Gruber was educated in Minnesota and her lifelong interest in history has prepared her well for the current position, leading this dynamic organization forward. You can contact her at lynn.gruber@co.dakota.mn.us.
