Listen and Change is a community action group with over 1600 members based in the South Metro. It was founded shortly after the murder of George Floyd as a place to grow and provide forward momentum toward social and racial justice in our community and country.

Guests Pastor Kristen Capel and Elizabeth Mukanga-Kingoina discuss the values and vision of this safe space for conversation about racial equity issues where BIPOC voices are centered, and the need for advocacy for BIPOC students, parents, faculty, and staff in local public schools.

Brian Freeman – The World’s Busiest Novelist

Brian Freeman is undoubtedly one of the busiest novelists in the world. A frequent guest on Access to Democracy, this award-winning novelist has four books which are debuting in 2021, including a bound copy of his successful audiobook, The Ursulina. Brian is working on the latest Jason Bourne novel, as he has taken over the series originated by the late Robert Ludlum. The Bourne Treachery, his second effort in the series, is now available everywhere books are sold. He spoke with Alan about some of the techniques he utilizes in his writing, how he finds and incorporates locations, and how he can accomplish so much and still enjoy life with his wife, Marcia, whose popular website is The Author’s Wife.

Dr. John Steubs, MN Twins Team Physician

Dr. John Steubs was the MN Twins Team Physician for over three decades. He is an orthopedic surgeon and one of the founding doctors at Tria Orthopedics. Dr. Steubs has been a guest on Access to Democracy program several times, with discussions ranging from the Twins, orthopedic surgery, and the advisability of young children engaging in sports such as football. Dr. Steubs has been a leader in the growing field of sports medicine for many years. He discussed the proliferation of injuries to athletes, not only in baseball, but sports in general.
