IN MEMORIAM

We note with sadness the passing of BARB DALY on October 16, 2022.

Taken far too early at age 74, Barb was a vivacious early Access to Democracy Team member who was our first guest host, from 2002-2005, when she interviewed politicians and local celebrities. With a political background after serving in the administration of Governor Wendell Anderson, Barb is remembered for her smiling countenance and upbeat personality. Our condolences to Bob Daly and the family.

A memorial service celebrating her life will take place at The Lexington in St. Paul on May 20, 2023.

[10-14-2022]   (Dane Smith)

Michael Berndt, President Inver Hills Community College & Dakota County Technical College.  Being the President of one college would seem to be a full-time occupation, but to serve as the President of two colleges would seem to verge on the impossible. Michael Berndt is the unusual person who can do both – as President of Inver Hills Community College and Dakota County Technical College. Berndt has served in his dual role for three years. With a two decade background to several Minnesota State institutions, President Berndt brings all of that, plus impressive popularity with students, to his two colleges.

[9-30-2022]   (Steve Francisco)

Kevin Lindsey, CEO of the Minnesota Humanities Center, joins host Steve Francisco for a thought-provoking discussion about threats to our democracy and the important contributions of people of color to Minnesota’s rich history. Kevin brings his extensive experience as a lawyer and former Minnesota Commissioner of Human Rights to his work at the Humanities Center in its education and outreach mission. The interview also explores issues around so-called “wokism” and “cancel culture” and how these terms are used by politicians to categorize people and prevent an honest examination of our nation’s difficult history of racism.
